Nimrod’s Fortress: an Ancient Nephilim Site?

LEARN MORE ABOUT TOUR

By Derek Olson

Was “Nimrod’s Fortress,” located on the slopes of Mt Hermon in northern Israel, associated with the ancient Nephilim? According to the Book of Enoch, Mt Hermon is where the legendary “Watchers” are said to have descended before taking wives who then birthed giants of old…

Enoch chapter 6:6 “And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon.” Enoch chapter 6:1-3 “And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: ‘Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.”

Enoch chapter 7:1-3 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives… And they became pregnant, and they bare great giants… Genesis 6:4 states “There were giants (Nephilim) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

Genesis 10:8 says this about the mysterious “Nimrod” “And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.” When you look at the Hebrew text of this passage, you learn the following: “Nimrod”means “rebellion,” and he was a great city builder & the founder of the kingdom of Babylon.

The phrase “he began” in Hebrew means to “profane, defile, pollute, desecrate.” The phrase “a mighty one” in Hebrew means “strong, champion, tyrant, giant.” In fact it’s the same word “gibôr” which Genesis 6:4 uses to describe the “mighty men of old (giant Nephilim) This has led many to wonder if Nimrod was or was somehow genetically transforming himself into a Nephilim hybrid.

So while the mainstream history narrative will tell us that this is just a medieval fortress, are its largest foundations actually much older? Was the medieval construction built on top of older ruins? Was this site one of Nimrod’s first building projects in prehistory? Was this site visited by the legendary Watchers or their nefarious Nephilim offspring? Join me to explore this site & many more on our upcoming Israel & Petra tour this March. Learn more here
